Playing Romulan: The Federation contains the largest assortment of personnel and ships in the game. They also have the most abundant selection of skills for making quick work of missions (which is a good thing considering they are restricted from starting battles without playing cards to allow it).
The Federation is probably the most straight-forward affiliation in the game, concentrating on fast completion of missions to score points and win.
